For several weeks now, I’ve been devoting one hour of my SiriusXM program on Saturday night to the Occupy movement.
I’ve had people calling in live from various cities (Chicago, Oakland, Denver, Boston, Atlanta, and several other places) and I’ve been interviewing activists, economists, historians, lawyers and journalists familiar with the issues this movement is concerned about.
With all it’s faults, I believe this Occupy movement, including all it’s international antecedents and parallel groups, is, possibly, a last ditch stand against an increasingly Corporate/Military controlled government in the USA and the rest of the world.
As a lot of you know, I’ve won the Gold medal in pessimism many times over the years, but, for once, I actually see some hope–as expressed in these various protests, demostrations, et. al.
With all this in mind, I’ve started a new program on PRN (Progressive Radio Network It’s on Wednesdays from 1-2pm Eastern time and its called: OCCUPIED TERRITORY.
Its a live, one hour program that features calls from activists in different cities around the country and commentary from people who have some expertise on the issues involved.
I will announce marches, demonstrations and other events for different locations and read articles that I believe will provide facts and fuel to this movement.
What I’d like to get from you all are tweets: @PRN_radio and, if you are listening live, call-ins, at: 888-874-4888.
Also, any of you who are directly involved in any of these protests/occupations, please call in– or, if you know anyone who is involved, spread the word–personally, on facebook, tweets, websites, etc. etc.
Also, if you are an ex-pat. listening in another country, I’d love to hear what you have to say and if you know anyone who is a citizen of another country, I’d love to hear what they have to say.
If you listen on a download, please get in touch with any comments or updates…
There is a special page on PRN for Occupied Territory, also a facebook page; and of course, Podcast archives of each show.
To find all this, please go to: PRN.FM on-line, check the schedule of shows for Occupy Territory.
